“You don’t go to white Christian nationalist events, put on by Christian nationalists, and not expect the Christian nationalists to be there,” he said.
Stuckart called on Woodward to resign, saying she had irreparably damaged her legitimacy and sent a dangerous message to vulnerable and marginalized residents.
Woodward’s opponent in this year’s race for mayor, Lisa Brown, did not echo Stuckart’s calls for Woodward’s resignation, but did condemn the association and called on voters to take note.
“It’s not just, here’s a difference in policy perspectives,” Brown said. “Shea is calling for armed insurrection with people who have a different perspective than he does — it’s inexcusable to be associated with him in any way at any time.”
KAZIMIERZ DOLNY, Poland – As bombs fell in Mariupol, an eastern Ukrainian city ravaged by Russian bombing, Spokane pastor and former legislator Matt Shea took part in a rescue mission for 62 orphans. In a video and post to Facebook on March 8, Shea said he could hear machine guns firing in the background as he talked to his “prospective daughters.”
“After reading his manifesto, what will happen to the children in the few weeks, months or years times?” asked Ziarnicka. “Why does he need these children for? What are they going to do in the United States?”
It’s official, Matt Shea will not be on the ballot in 2020, but he’s still a dangerous influence in our community. Stay vigilant friends, we cannot let religious extremism, fascism, and his unhinged fringe politics grow in our area. We need to support rational thinking policies that help our communities grow and prosper with compassion and respect for our common humanity.
There are concerned citizens of Spokane that believe Matt Shea spent campaign dollars on his way out of office to prop up John Birch Society, ACN (American Christian Network), and his own podcast and interests when he knows he’s not running for LD4 again. We’ve been informed there may be some PDC complaints to look into this. Here are some of his PDC forms for you to peruse on your own.

OLYMPIA – Spokane Valley Rep. When Jay Pounder leaked "Biblical Basis for War," a document authored by state Rep. Matt Shea, it focused a national spotlight on the controversial Spokane Valley politician.
Last month, as the state House of Representatives opened an investigation into whether Shea promoted political violence, Pounder, a former Shea ally, followed it up with a sequel, leaking a document called "Restoration." READ FULL STORY HERE
When corporate spokespeople sing the same platitudes as if in a chorus, it’s a dead giveaway. You just know they’re covering for something.
So I had to shake my head at how the business donors who now are fleeing from state Rep. Matt Shea and his crazy-talk of biblical war all sound as if their statements were mixed in the same political porridge factory.
“We strongly condemn the views expressed, as they are in direct contrast to our values of diversity and inclusion,” said BNSF Railway, which gave $2,000 to help Shea, R-Spokane Valley, get reelected last year, and now wants it back. READ FULL STORY HERE

A week before his re-election last year, state Rep. Matt Shea denied that a leaked manifesto he wrote was a road map for a holy war, one that would pit conservative Christian “patriots” against Muslim and Marxist “terrorists.”
Rather, Shea insisted, the document titled “Biblical Basis for War” contained notes for a scholarly sermon on war in the Old Testament.
But newly leaked emails, first reported by The Guardian on Wednesday, as well as a video on Shea’s public Facebook page, reveal the Spokane Valley lawmaker has had close ties with a group called Team Rugged that trained children, teens and men in their early 20s for religious combat. OLYMPIA – The state House of Representatives agreed Monday to pay a team of independent investigators as much as $120,000 to determine whether a Spokane Valley lawmaker has promoted political violence against any person or group.
The House clerk’s office announced it signed a contract with Rampart Group LLC, of Silverdale, Washington, to investigate Rep. Matt Shea, who earlier this year was reported to have been part of an online conversation where others advocated violence against political opponents.
A preliminary report is expected by the end of September with a final report by Dec. 1.
He has served in the state House since 2008, introducing bills to criminalize abortion and roll back gun laws and pushing for eastern Washington to secede from the rest of the state. The military veteran attracted international attention in 2018 after a document he wrote laid out a "biblical basis for war" against people who practiced same-sex marriage and abortion, and instructed: "If they do not yield, kill all males." “The dossiers also include a five-page sworn statement in which County Commissioner Todd Mielke says Shea subjected him to an outburst of “spontaneous, extreme anger.”
He said in an interview that he wants an unequivocal answer from Shea about his ex-wife’s allegation that “he was disarmed by his commander in Iraq and called in for a psychiatric evaluation for anger management problems.”” CLICK HERE FOR FULL ARTICLE
He cut someone off, got a little road rage-y, and pulled out a firearm he was carrying illegally.
“A Spokane Valley legislator pulled a gun during a confrontation with another motorist last November in what police reports describe as a road rage incident. He was cited for two violations of state firearms law.
Republican Matt Shea, a state representative seeking a third term this fall, had a handgun in his pickup truck and had let his concealed weapons permit expire, a violation of state law, when he was contacted by Spokane police investigating reports of erratic driving and one driver threatening another with a handgun.” -Read all about it in the Spokesman Review.
Striding back and forth across the marbled Rotunda with the flag of the proposed state of Liberty behind him, Rep. Matt Shea drew a connection between supporting gun rights and splitting Washington at the crest of the Cascade Mountains.
“We’re not going to live in a state that takes away our firearms,” he said, to more cheers. “The only solution left is a 51st state.” CLICK HERE FOR FULL ARTICLE

“I’m a strong supporter of the 2nd Amendment. But bringing guns into somewhere where there’s alcohol being served? At least in my opinion, it’s probably not the brightest move.”
“Shea delivered the last speech of the night, covering many of his usual talking points. He denied the existence of global warming, instead blaming seasonal wildfires on changes in forest management practices. He spoke of the cultural and political differences between Eastern and Western Washington. He claimed the United States is “a Christian nation” under siege by atheists and Communists.”

“A Washington state Republican politician took part in private discussions with rightwing figures about carrying out surveillance, “psyops” and even violent attacks on perceived political enemies, according to chat records obtained by the Guardian.
State representative Matt Shea, who represents Spokane Valley in the Washington state house, participated in the chats with three other men. All of the men used screen aliases – Shea’s was “Verum Bellator”, Latin for true warrior. The Guardian confirmed the identity of those in the chat by cross-checking phone numbers attached to the Signal accounts.” CLICK FOR FULL ARTICLE
“Shea didn’t personally advocate violence, but he also didn’t condemn it. In fact, he offered to help the cause by conducting background checks on suspected enemies. “What BG checks need to be done. Give me the list,” he wrote.”
“Embattled conspiracy theorist and Washington state Republican Rep. Matt Shea has been skirting Washington state law to funnel campaign contributions to far-right nonprofit groups in Colorado and Arizona, a Hatewatch investigation reveals.
Shea uses his office and campaign funds to spearhead a partitionist effort to split Washington into two states, and may have violated state laws by using surplus campaign funds to make at least $5,500 in contributions to far-right nonprofit organizations that are not registered as charities with the Washington Secretary of State. State law requires charities to be registered with the state to receive surplus campaign funds.” CLICK HERE FOR FULL ARTICLE

“In podcasts recorded over the last several years, the Washington state Republican representative Matt Shea has amplified far-right conspiracy theories, stoked fears of civil war and speculated about the breakup of the United States.
Shea appeared as a guest in 2018 on the podcast Prepper Recon, hosted by “Christian constitutional author” Mark Goodwin, who writes apocalyptic survivalist fiction. Shea spoke on the podcast topic, “US civil war is coming”, and the “balkanization” of the United States.” CLICK FOR FULL ARTICLE

We must have missed one though… we were quite shocked to see the wife of Spokane County Prosecutor strongly advocate that she wanted to be included among Matt Shea’s supporters:
Curious that she considers posting readily available news as a “smear campaign”, but we know how sensitive some folks can be. Also of note, Rep Shea did not get re-elected. After the investigation into his domestic terrorism, he decided it’d be best to not run again.

She and many other local Republicans are disagreeing with Rep. Matt Shea, but Miles said they've distanced themselves from Shea for almost a decade - much before the recent allegations surrounding the Spokane Valley representative.
According to Miles, Spokane County's GOP is being heavily influenced with Christian extremism, which includes the same ideals laid out in Rep. Shea's leaked biblical manifesto.
It’s past time for the state and local GOP to disinvite Shea. The list of reasons is long and not remotely recent – whether it’s his gun-grabbing road rage, or his creepy stalking of a political opponent, or his lying slander of the sheriff, or “Biblical basis for war” discussions that seem to express relish for violent consequences for those who flout “biblical law.” CLICK HERE FOR FULL ARTICLE
“He pulled a gun in a road rage confrontation. He called the tax audit of Idaho Rep. Phil Hart "bureaucratic terrorism." He riffed with Alex Jones about FEMA camp conspiracies. He encouraged people to stock up on ammo to use on looters when society inevitably collapses. He flew down to Nevada to cheerlead the Bundy Ranch standoff. He sent a "security expert" named Anthony Bosworth — who had earlier been arrested for bringing an AK-style rifle to the federal courthouse — down to help the armed occupiers of the Oregon wildlife refuge. He repeatedly refuses to answer questions from the local newspapers, referring to them as the "Socialist-Review" and the "Inslander." Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich calls Shea a liar, while former County Commissioner Todd Mielke described an outburst of "spontaneous, extreme anger."
But for almost a decade, none of this seemed to impact his standing with the Washington State House Republicans. For seven years, Shea was Republican assistant floor leader. And in 2017, he got elected to an even more influential position within the party: caucus chair.
But not anymore. Caucus leadership elections were held on Monday, and Shea wasn't on the list.” CLICK HERE FOR FULL ARTICLE
